Growing Lettuce
Lettuce is a great gateway plant into gardening! I was once someone who's reality was that meme about bagged lettuce. One day, I decided to buy a packet of lettuce seeds, instead of another bag of lettuce, and I am forever changed.
Lettuce is not only easy to grow, it’s far superior in both taste and vitamin A content, then what is available at the store. All you need is a packet of seeds, and some quality organic potting soil in a wide pot.
How to grow lettuce:
1. Moisten your potting soil, then fill up your pot.
2. Place once seed every 4 inches.
3. Sprinkle a very thin layer of potting mix over the seeds.
4. Gently water or mist the top layer of soil.
5. Place in a bright location.
6. Water regularly. Keeping the soil moist, but not wet.
7. Begin harvesting in about 21-45 days!
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
I call it a gateway plant, because the summer after buying my last bag of lettuce I grew my lunch! A mixed green salad, with blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and mint. It was topped with almonds and goat cheese from the farmers market. So delicious and oh so rewarding!
