Katie Hinson
Umbel Gardens creator, Katie Hinson, has a passion for observing the simple, yet complex, beauty of the natural world. She lives in Chattanooga with her husband Alex, and cat Mango. After spending several years of her career in graphic design and marketing, Katie returned to school to earn a certificate in Landscape Horticulture. While living in Seattle, Katie was inspired by how few grass lawns were. Instead, almost everyone was using their land to grow edible plants. Inspired by this, and the need for more natural spaces, Katie created Umbel Gardens.
Umbel Gardens is proud to be a women owned business based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The goal of Umbel Gardens is to inspire and educate our neighbors to grow edible gardens in their own backyards by designing and installing custom kitchen gardens. Growing organically and eating seasonally has a positive impact on mental health, the environment, and community.
I’m passionate about connecting people with the land and their food and would love to help you start snacking straight off the vine!
